Course Description and Requirements

 Confirmation candidates must prepare for at least two years, to allow time for growth and change. By the end of the first year, the candidate must choose as a Confirmation sponsor a Confirmed Catholic person, other than the parent, who lives his/her faith. The sponsor will attend various events with the candidate. Confirmation is the final Sacrament of Initiation into the Church, a celebration of the candidate's continuing faith journey. We pray that this process of faith sharing and growth will lead youth closer to one another, to the sponsor, to the Church, and to God.

The requirements for Confirmation:

  1. Completion of five youthQuest courses:
  2. Completion of Track 5 each year.
  3. Participation in Advent Retreat (Year One)
  4. Participation in Weekend Retreat (Year Two)
  5. Participation in 6 Gather events
  6. Completion of 4 Service Projects
  7. Choice of a Confirmation sponsor
  8. Participation in 3 Liturgical Rites
Classes run in six-week courses from 7-8:30pm on Monday nights. Courses offered include:
  1. Covenant: This is a required twelve-week course for second year Confirmation candidates.
    Confirmation candidates who have met all pre-requisites will be enrolled in Covenant in January of the year they are to be Confirmed. Candidates will be interviewed before acceptance into Covenant.

  2. I Like Being Catholic: Different catechists share their passion for the faith. What do you like?

  3. Lamentations: Why do bad things happen to good people? What is God's role in suffering?

  4. Matthew: Was Jesus more like a T.V. evangelist or a revolutionary? Find out in this film about him.

  5. Moccasins: "Walk a mile in another person's moccasins" to serve them better. Choose a project.

  6. Mother Earth: Christians are called to take care of the Earth. Explore ways to protect it.

  7. Peter's Boat: The Church, the boat of Peter, is traveling through time. Where do you belong?

  8. PG-13: Does the media act responsibly? How do you interpret media? Look at it through God's eyes.

  9. Sacraments: Learn about the seven sacraments, signs of God's life. Required for those preparing for Baptism, Reconciliation, and Eucharist.

  10. Temples: Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. This affects your health and sexuality.

  11. Treasures: The Catholic Church is full of unique treasures. Improve your Catholic I.D.!

  12. WordQuest: Does a Bible written thousands of years ago have anything to say to you today?

  13. Worship: Enjoy Mass more after finding out what things mean and helping with a Mass!

  14. WWJD: What would Jesus do about violence, abortion, immigration, suicide, gangs, addictions?

  15. Jesus: Was Jesus really God or just a good man? Discover the truth...
In addition we have:
Gathers:
Special events, such as pizza nights, speakers, trips, concerts, movie nights, etc. Family and friends are always welcome at Gather events!

Service Projects:
Any service done by candidates. Please let us know about projects done elsewhere.

Track 5:
A Special events track in the Spring of every year. Required for all candidates.

Los candidatos para Confirmación debarán prepararse por no menos de dos años para dar tiempo a crecer y a cambiar. Para el final del primer año, el candidato debe escojer, un Padrino/a de Confirmación, una persona (pero no sus padres) que sea un Catolico Confirmado que viva su fe. Deberá asistir a varios eventos con el candidato. La Confirmación es el sacramento final de la iniciación en la iglesia, y una celebración del joven para continuar en su camino de fe. Oramos para que éste proceso de fe que es compartido y crece, lo guie para estar más cerca de los demàs, del padrino, de la iglesia y de Dios.

Los requisitos para la Confirmación:

  1. Haber completado cinco sursos del youthQuest:
  2. Haber completado Track 5 de cada año
  3. Participación del Retiro de Adviento (Primer Año)
  4. Participación del Retiro de fin de semana (Segundo Año)
  5. Participación de 6 "Gather" eventos sociales
  6. Completar 4 Proyectos de Servicio
  7. Escoger su Padrion de Confirmación
  8. Participatión de tres Ritos Liturgicos
Las clases constan de cursos de seis semanas cada uno. Se ofrecen los lunes de 7-8:30pm. Los cursos incluyen:
  1. Covenant: Un curso de doce semanas requisito para los candidados del segundo año de clases.
    Candidatos de Confirmación que han llenado todos los requisitos son aceptados para este curso en el mes de Enero del año en que van a ser confimados. Serán entrevistados antes de ser aceptados.

  2. I Like Being Catholic: Varios catequistas hablan de su pasión por la fe. ¿Que le gusta de su fe?

  3. Lamentations: ¿Porqué les pasan cosas malas a la gente buena? ¿Que papel juega Dios en sufrimiento?

  4. Matthew: ¿Fue Jesus más que un Evangelista de TV o un revolucionario? Encuentralo en esta pelicula.

  5. Moccasins: "Camina una milla en los mocasines de otra persona" para servirle mejor. Escoje un proyecto.

  6. Mother Earth: Cristianos estan llamados a cuidar de la tierra. Explora medios para protejer al planeta.

  7. Peter's Boat: La iglesia, la Barca de Pedro, esta viajando durante los tiempos. ¿Cual es tu lugar en ella?

  8. PG-13: ¿Los medios de comunicación actúan de una manera responsable? Verlo con los ojos de Dios.

  9. Sacraments: Aprende acerca de los 7 sacramentos. Se requiere para los que se estan preparando para el Bautizo, la Reconciliación, y la Eucarista.

  10. Temples: Tu cuerpo es templo del Espiritu Santo. Esto afecta a su salud y a su sexualidad.

  11. Treasures: La iglesia catolica esta llena de tesoros unicos. ¡Mejora de tu identidad de Catolico!

  12. Word Quest: ¿La Biblia escrita hace miles de años tiene algo que decirte ahora?

  13. Worship: Goza mejor la Misa aprendiendo más y planeando una Misa para los Jovenes.

  14. WWJD: ¿Que haría Jesus acerca de las gangas, el suicidio, el aborto, la emigración, las adiciones?

  15. Jesus: ¿Esta Jesus realmente el Dios o solo un buen hombre? Discubre la verdad...

Gathers:
Eventos especiales, noches de pizza, oradores, viajes, conciertos, noches de pelicula, etc. ¡Familia y amigos son siempre bienvido a estos!

Service Projects:
Cualquier servicio hecho por los candidatos. Haganos saber cualiquier otro proyecto hecho en otros lados.

Track 5:
Eventos especiales en la primavera de cada año. Es requisito para todos los candidatos.
