A sponsor must have received the three Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) and be participating in the Mass and the Sacraments at this time.

The requirements for sponsors:
1. Must be a Confirmed Catholic, who attends Mass regularly and lives the faith
2. Must participate in a local parish
3. Must be at least 18 years old
4. Must live within a reasonable distance, preferably in the South Bay
5. May not be the parent or step-parent of the Confirmation candidate

The qualities of a good sponsor:
1. An active Catholic, who understands their faith and lives it in their daily life
2. A true friend, someone for a candidate to trust and confide in even after Confirmation
3. A role model, someone who can show by example how to live a good life
4. A good listener, who will really listen to the candidate and respect their opinions
5. A fellow traveler, who is willing to participate in all the required activities with the candidate

The duties of a sponsor:
1. Form a personal, trusting relationship with the candidate
2. Attend required sponsor meetings, such as training and information sessions
3. Participate in candidate/sponsor activities, such as one-day retreat and evening of prayer
4. Participate in two liturgical rites, Confirmation rehearsal and Confirmation liturgy
5. Write special letters for candidate and conduct final interview with candidate

Un padrino debe haber recibido los tres Sacramentos de Iniciación en la Iglesia Católica (Bautizo, Comunión y Confirmación) y ser actualmente participe activo de la Misa y de los Sacramentos.

Requisitos para los padrinos:
1. Debe ser un Católico confirmado, que asiste a Misa regularmente y vive su Fe
2. Debe participar en su Parroquia local
3. Debe tener cuando menos 18 años
4. Debe vivir a una distancia razonable, de preferencia en South Bay
5. No pueden ser los padres o padrastros del candidato

Cualidades de un buen padrino:
1. Un Católico activo, quien entiende su Fe y la vive en su vida diaria
2. Un verdadero amigo, alguien en quien el candidato confie por muchos años
3. Un ejemplo, alguien que sea un modelo de como se vive en verdad la Fe
4. Una persona que le escucha, alguien que realmente escucha y respeta sus opiniones
5. Una persona quien esta dispuests a participar en todas las actividades que se requieran con el candidato

Las obligaciones del padrino:
1. Construir una relación muy personal y verdadera con el candidato
2. Asistir a las reuniones que se requieran para los padrinos, como entrenamiento e información
3. Participar en las actividades para los candidatos y los padrinos juntos, como el retiro de un día y una tarde de oración
4. Participar en dos ritos liturgicos, ensayo de Confirmación y Liturgia de Confirmación
5. Escribir unas cartas para el candidato y tener una entrevista al final con el candidato
