Fiesta Thank you and Financial Update
The Fiesta Committee sincerely thanks everyone who gave their time, money, contributions, and talents to make the 2024 Fiesta such a success and so much fun. Financially, we raised just over $87,000. Father Alfred has received a check for $82,000, from that amount,  $30,000 was shared with the school. The rest is reserved for startup expenses for next year. Please prayerfully consider joining us again in 2025! May God bless you for your efforts!

A great big thank you to our parishioners, friends and families who supported the annual Fiesta this past weekend. We enjoyed seeing you, your families and friends spending time together, enjoying food, music, rides and performances.  It literally takes a village to put together an event such as this each year and we are extremely grateful to all of you. No event is perfect as this year also came with a few of it’s own challenges but we thank you for your understanding, patience, flexibility and willingness to lend a hand and work together to find resolutions. We saw how each hand came together to help--both in prayer and physically, whether a big task like building and lifting or as small as inviting a friend, each crucially important in making this a successful event.  

Though we may not always attend mass at the same time or know each other by name, this one time each year reminds me what a great and diverse a community we are, how blessed we are to learn from each other and especially how we, as St. Catherine’s, can be an example of God’s love, sacrifice and presence to our surrounding community.   How fitting this week’s (October 20th) readings are a reminder of service and sacrifice for the Kingdom of God!  

We especially want to thank our tireless Fiesta Committee for all the planning, sleepless nights and tired arms, backs and legs. We know how much you sacrifice for this parish. Thank you.  Thanks to our booth captains and volunteers who juggled shifts and spent each day here. Thank you to our Scouts, Silent Auction donors, sponsors and entertainers who filled out our weekend with activities and performances! A special thanks to the Bernal family, who provided an upgraded beer garden experience to watch the Dodger games. Go Dodgers!

Congratulations to the 50/50 raffle winner Joanna Hornstra, a member of our parish who won $10,040.
Congratulations to our Duck Pond booth, for the best decorated game booth!! They creatively used hand made decor and incorporated ducks colored by students from the school!

We hope you enjoyed some of the updates we made this year as we to continue to learn and grow in new ways.  Please provide some feedback on things you enjoyed this year and ways we can improve. Fiesta Committee 2024

St. Catherine Laboure parish has lost a wonderful advocate and volunteer.  Marco Sandoval, who died December 15, 2020 grew up in a house whose yard backed up to the school playground, in a neighborhood of big, active Catholic families. Marco graduated from St. Catherine Laboure School in 1976, but he never forgot his roots.  He maintained lifelong friendships with many of his classmates and kept close ties to both the parish and the school.  Marco coached the B football team as well as various levels of boys and girls basketball at St. Catherine’s school. He was also a member of the school’s marketing committee for many years.  He served as publicity chairman on the parish Fiesta committee for 12 years, while Fiesta attendance grew to record numbers.  He helped with entertainment during Fiesta weekend for 8 years, overseeing the bands and dance groups and serving as MC.  He was so energized seeing his friends and his parish family reuniting to support the Fiesta. 

Marco, you will be greatly missed.
